UPDATE (Dec 21): following the announcement of Amazon Prime Video acquiring the film from Paramount, setting a new online release date of March 5, it has been confirmed to us that the debut trailer will land December 22.

While Paramount may have mostly moved their films to 2021, they still have something set for this winter. Craig Brewer’s Coming 2 America, the sequel to the much beloved Eddie Murphy classic, is about to get its debut teaser trailer. The first look has been rated today by Alberta Film Ratings, and we expect it to be released online at some point in the coming weeks. This follows rumours that the film might be sold by the studio to Netflix – however this seems to put the reports to rest for now, at least for the North American release. As always, we’ll have more info here as it comes in.

Set after the events of the first film, former Prince Akeem Joffer is set to become King of Zamunda when he discovers he has a son he never knew about in America – a street savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his royal father’s dying wish to groom this son as the crown prince, Akeem and Semmi set off to America once again.

Starring Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, and James Earl Jones, the film arrives on Amazon Prime Video globally on March 5.
