Update: after playing at UK cinemas for a few weeks, the trailer is finally set to land online tomorrow, October 2, just hours before the film opens the London Film Festival!
Following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, the first look at director Armando Iannucci’s take on the Charles Dickens classic, The Personal History of David Copperfield, is set to land in the coming days. The trailer was rated today by the UK’s BBFC, and we expect it online later this week – no doubt in time for it going out on UK screens with Downton Abbey – and we’ll be sure to have the fotoage here when it does.
A fresh and distinctive take on Dickens’ semi-autobiographical masterpiece, THE PERSONAL HISTORY OF DAVID COPPERFIELD chronicles the life of its iconic title character as he navigates a chaotic world to find his elusive place within it. From his unhappy childhood to the discovery of his gift as a storyteller and writer, David’s journey is by turns hilarious and tragic, but always full of life, color, and humanity.
Starring Dev Patel, Peter Capaldi, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Ben Whishaw, Aneurin Barnard, Morfydd Clark, Anthony Welsh and Rosalind Eleazar, the film is released January 10 in the UK with a U.S. date to be announced.
