In a move that has quite a few on social media comparing it to Christopher Nolan’s latest, Lionsgate has stealth-dropped the first look at director Jay Roach and writer Charles Randolph’s much-anticipated Fox News film, finally titled Bombshell, in U.S. cinemas. Per reports from multiple Twitter users, including /Film’s Chris Evangelista, the debut trailer is being placed with screenings of Fox Searchlight’s Ready or Not which had its first shows last night.
Unless Lionsgate really wants to take a page out of Christopher Nolan’s playbook (which doesn’t seem to be on the cards, at most it could be a situation like Blumhouse’s The Hunt or Happy Death Day 2U, where the studio held off releasing publicly for a couple of weeks), we expect this one online by the end of the week – and we’ll be sure to have it here when it lands. In the meantime, check out a few reactions to the trailer below:
Based on the real scandal, BOMBSHELL is a revealing look inside the most powerful and controversial media empire of all time; Fox News, and the explosive story of the women who brought down the infamous man who created it.
Starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, John Lithgow, Kate McKinnon, Connie Britton, Mark Duplass, Rob Delaney, Malcolm McDowell and Allison Janney, the film is released December 20 in the U.S. with a UK date to be announced.
