Alongside the first look at Niki Caro’s Mulan, Disney is set to launch the second – full-length, this time – trailer for Joachim Rønning’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil in time for the release of The Lion King later this month. The new look was rated today by the UK’s BBFC and we expect it online some time in the next two weeks – before it begins to play on the big screen with Jon Favreau’s live-action remake of the beloved classic. As always, we’ll have more details here when they arrive.

A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.
Starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville, Harris Dickinson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film is released October 18 in the U.S. and the UK.
