No doubt in time to go out with Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin in two weeks time, the first trailer for Joachim Rønning’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil has been prepared by Disney. The piece, clocking in at under one and a half minutes, has been rated today by the UK’s BBFC.

With BBFC trailer ratings, we would expect them to arrive online any day now (so at this point, some time next week) – in any case, we suspect it will most certainly be before Aladdin‘s UK release on May 22. As always, we’ll have the trailer itself and any official announcements here as soon as they come in.

A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after Maleficent, in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen, as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.

Starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, Lesley Manville, Harris Dickinson, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Skrein and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film is released October 18 in the U.S. and the UK.
