Ahead of next week’s release of Happy Death Day 2U, Universal and Focus Features have set new trailer drops for two of their upcoming psychological thrillers – Neil Jordan’s Greta and the first footage from Tate Taylor’s Ma. Both trailers have been sent with copies of the upcoming sequel (via Deluxe Technicolor) and are expected online in the next week.
To note – the Us trailer is the initial Christmas trailer with the updated March 22 release date.
A sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, Frances doesn’t think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta, an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends – but Greta’s maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta’s life is what it seems.
Octavia Spencer is set to reunite with “The Help” director for the horror and psychological thriller “Ma.”
Starring Octavia Spencer, Juliette Lewis and Luke Evans, Ma is released May 31 in the US, with a UK date to be announced. And starring Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Grace Moretz, Maika Monroe, Colm Feore and Stephen Rea, Greta is released March 1 in the U.S., followed by the UK on April 19.
