Following months of speculation and yesterday’s bootleg leak out of an industry expo in Russia, the first trailer for Simon Kinberg’s Dark Phoenix – the sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse which is believed to be the final film featuring the mutant superhero team before 20th Century Fox is consoldidated within Disney and rights transfer to Marvel Studios – has been officially announced to arrive tonight, September 26.

Star Sophie Turner took to Instagram to tease the launch with an animated poster, confirming that the first look will arrive during her stint on James Corden’s The Late Late Show on CBS – which was speculated by many fans to be where it will arrive since the announcement of Sophie’s appearance. This airs starting 9:37pm PT on the West Coast, and 12:37pm ET/5:37am UK time the following day. We’ll be sure to have the official trailer on the site on Thursday morning once it drops!

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters and Jessica Chastain, the film is released February 5 in the UK, followed by February 14 in the U.S..
