Following similar extended peeks at Mission: Impossible – Fallout and First Man earlier this summer, IMAX is set to debut an exclusive 4-minute look at Julius Avery’s WWII horror thriller Overlord, produced by J.J. Abrams, at their theatres in North America in the coming weeks.
The new footage has been rated today by Alberta Film Ratings; given the R rating of the film itself, we would expect this to play in front of IMAX screenings of The Nun (opening September 7) and The Predator (a week later on September 14).
Currently this look is expected to only play in the U.S. and Canada as an international IMAX release of the film in November is yet to be confirmed. UPDATE (Aug 31): After debuting at FrightFest, the preview appears to be set to hit UK IMAXes also, having been rated by the BBFC today.
As always, we’ll be sure to have the official announcement of the preview as soon as it arrives, so stay tuned!
In the upcoming WWII horror-thriller OVERLORD, a group of American paratroopers drop into Nazi-occupied France on the eve of D-Day. As they struggle to carry out their seemingly impossible mission, they discover a secret Nazi lab carrying out terrifying and bizarre supernatural experiments.
Starring Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, Mathilde Ollivier, John Magaro and Iain de Caestecker, the film premieres in late September at Fantastic Fest and is released November 9 in the U.S. and the UK.
