With the On The Basis of Sex and Mary, Queen of Scots trailer updates recently, a good number of readers have been asking us about one of Focus Features’ other remaining awards season releases –  Boy Erased, based on Garrard Conley’s memoir. Now, following a pushed-back release date (the film was previously due out in September), Joel Edgerton’s second feature as director is about to have its first trailer released, having been rated tonight by Consumer Protection BC. We’ll be sure to have more details as we get them, so keep an eye out in the coming days!

“Boy Erased” tells the story of Jared, the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who is outed to his parents at age 19. Jared is faced with an ultimatum: attend a gay conversion therapy program – or be permanently exiled and shunned by his family, friends, and faith. “Boy Erased” is the true story of one young man’s struggle to find himself while being forced to question every aspect of his identity.

Starring Lucas Hedges, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Joel Edgerton, the film is released November 2 in the U.S., with a UK date to be announced.
