Following a similar strategy with 2015’s Rogue Nation, Paramount is set to attach an extended sneak peek at Mission: Impossible – Fallout in North American IMAX cinemas this month. Alberta Film Ratings has rated the new look last night, which clocks in at just over three minutes and is not expected to be released online. UPDATE (Jun 21): IMAX has officially announced the sneak peek! The UK’s BBFC has also rated the preview, so it seems it may be arriving to UK cinemas this weekend too.
While Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has already arrived in the UK and other international markets (so don’t expect this to play outside America), IMAX cinemas in the U.S. and Canada are playing Ocean’s 8 this weekend with no reports yet of this new look being shown. We expect North American screenings of Incredibles 2 from next week and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom later this month to feature this extended look. We’ll be sure to update when we hear more about this.
Christopher McQuarrie’s second Mission: Impossible installment was initially announced to have select sequences shot on IMAX 3D digital cameras. Per the director, the final film is set to feature the two major stunt sequences shot on digital cameras – the helicopter chase scene with Tom Cruise himself piloting and the HALO jump glimpsed in the latest trailers – presented in an expanded aspect ratio of 1.9:1 in IMAX cinemas. The rest of the film was shot on anamorphic 35mm and will be presented in 2.40:1.
