The 2017 edition of the Clio Entertainment Awards (formerly the Key Art Awards) took place in LA last night – where some of the best marketing pieces of the previous year’s film, as well as TV and video game releases, took home awards.
Warner Bros./Buddha Jones’ record-shattering teaser trailer for It, and Fox Searchlight/Motive’s red-band trailer for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’ won the respective Clio Grand awards for Best Theatrical Teaser and Theatrical Trailer respectively – marking them as arguably the best trailers of the year.
The night’s other big winners included Lionsgate with La La Land, which took home the Best Integrated Campaign Clio Grand award; as well as Paramount with Arrival, with the incredibly touching viral piece ‘Common Ground’ released late last year taking the Grand award for Original Content.
Many of our and the film blogosphere’s favourite trailers for late 2016 and 2017 releases ended up landing Gold awards: these include full trailers for Moonlight (MWA) and mother! (Buddha Jones).
