The very first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 debuted at the end of October, with a promise of a proper first trailer to come. Now, per a new interview with THR linked to the release of The Belko Experiment trailer yesterday, that new look has been locked in and is ready for release soon.

“With Guardians, it’s such an emotional and physical journey, going to all these different places. It’s like, ‘God, do I really want to show this planet we go to in the middle of the movie? … Those are always hard choices to make.”

In the interview, Gunn also talks about the very first Guardians teaser which first debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2013, before launching to the public in early 2014, and how it came close to actually not being released.

“We had another trailer that was very cheesy that sold the movie as something different than what it was — that tested a little better…and at the end of the day, the [marketing] guys were like, ‘This is what the movie is. We are selling what the movie is. Not something else.”
