For those disappointed that the ‘IMAX trailer’ that was on the way for Transformers: The Last Knight was just a featurette promoting the partnership with only a few snippets of first footage from the upcoming film, you can let out a sigh of relief with this news.
Paramount and director Michael Bay have taken to social media last night to announce that the first teaser trailer for what may be Bay’s final Transformers will arrive on December 16 and is expected to play on the big screen with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Based on this announcement, it appears the trailer will be released online on the day Rogue One is released in the U.S. – which means if you want to be the very first to see the first proper look at the new Transformers, you need to head to your earliest IMAX showing of Rogue One – which is released at midnight of December 15 in the UK, with the first showings in the U.S. expected at 6pm ET that evening.
This is the second trailer that has now been confirmed to release in time for Rogue One, with the first being F. Gary Gray’s Fast 8, the teaser trailer for which has been announced to release online on December 11. Other new trailers we are expecting (but aren’t confirmed/announced) to arrive in time for Rogue One include Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Spider-Man: Homecoming (which is indeed coming according to a report), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and a brand new teaser for Christopher Nolan’s highly-anticipated IMAX epic Dunkirk.
Starring Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins, and with Josh Duhamel and John Turturro returning from the first instalments, Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in cinemas on June 23, 2017.
