This might not, strictly speaking, be a trailer, but this might just be the most moving piece of film promo material this year (so far anyway, still a couple of months to go)

Paramount have dropped a new emotional promo trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival, which is based around clips of multiple pairs of people, from different corners of the world, trying to overcome that language barrier and find something in common – much like the film’s leading duo (Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner) try and do with the Heptapods in the film. The piece, titled ‘Common Ground’, also features an extended snippet at Jóhann Jóhannsson’s minimalistic yet incredibly impactful score. Take a look below, and try not to tear up:

When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

Be sure to mark your calendars – the film arrives in the UK on November 10, and in the U.S. a day later on the 11th.
